KIEV / MOSCOW - The commander of Ukraine's Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said Ukrainian troops were attacked despite the full and comprehensive ceasefire with Russian-backed separatists taking effect in the Donbas region, the JFO press service reported on Monday.

Kravchenko added that if the separatists violate the peace and threaten the lives of Ukrainian troops, the response of the armed forces will be immediate and decisive. At the same time, he expressed hope that the ceasefire would last.
He said that despite two cases of ceasefire violations, a stable and controlled situation was observed on the contact line in Donbas.
The representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe agreed on establishing a complete and comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas on July 27 during a Trilateral Contact Group video conference on July 22.

The agreements provide for a ban on offensive and reconnaissance actions, the use of firearms, as well as the use of disciplinary measures for violations of the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin said on Monday that Russia has no plan to rejoin the Group of Seven given its satisfaction with the Group of 20.
"The G20 probably better meets modern economic realities from the point of view of economic development centers in the world," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
According to Peskov, the G7 lacks global significance because it excludes China, India, Brazil, Turkey and other countries.

Russia was part of the Group of Eight along with Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, but its membership was terminated over Crimea in 2014.
