CHENGDU, China - Japan secured the top spot in the group stage and will face India in the quarterfinals after a 3-2 comeback victory against Indonesia on the final day of the Uber Cup group stage on Wednesday.
Indonesian rising star Gregoria Mariska Tunjung stunned world No. 4 Akane Yamaguchi in a 53-minute thriller, winning 17-21, 21-17, 21-13. However, Japanese shuttlers rallied to win the next three matches, securing a 3-1 overall victory.
Although Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi won the final match for Indonesia, it was not enough to improve their second-place position in Group C.
Indonesia will face Thailand, who swept Chinese Taipei 5-0 to top Group B.

The knockout stage draw took place after the conclusion of the group stage, with group winners facing the runners-up from other groups.
Defending champion South Korea is set to take on Chinese Taipei, while China will battle Denmark for a spot in the semifinals.
Playing on home soil for the first time since 2016, China aims to reclaim the biennial international badminton championships title after losing to South Korea in the final two years ago.
"In the past two years, I have experienced a lot of ups and downs and gained a lot of experience," said Chinese youngster Wang Zhiyi. "All I want is to get that trophy back."
