HK nonprofit signs MoU with Kazakh university on talent cultivation

HONG KONG – A Hong Kong nonprofit organization recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Satbayev University of Kazakhstan to help foster knowledge sharing and exchanges between the special administrative region and the Belt and Road country.

The HK International Talents Association signed the agreement with the university on April 3 at the Hong Kong Science Park, sealing a commitment to promote academic excellence and enhance collaboration while helping attract more talents to come to the SAR.

The association provides a platform for networking and collaboration among new arrivals in the territory and supports their integration into Hong Kong society.

Witman Hung, president of the HK International Talents Association, said that Hong Kong can attract more talents from Belt and Road countries such as Kazakhstan by providing help and creating a welcoming environment

"People-to-people connectivity is one of the most important element of the Belt and Road Initiative, and today we are working towards that noble direction through this partnership,” said Johnny Chan, chairman of the association’s board of governors.

Meiram Begentayev, chairman of the board - rector of Satbayev University and Witman Hung, president of the association, signed the MOU.

“The alliance we form today with the Hong Kong International Talents Association is a bridge between East and West that promises to bear the fruits of shared knowledge, technology transfer, and cultural exchange,” said Begentayev.

“Satbayev University is proud to embark on this journey, fostering an environment where our scholars and students can pursue excellence alongside their peers in Hong Kong.”

Hung said that Hong Kong can attract more talents from Belt and Road countries such as Kazakhstan by providing help and creating a welcoming environment.

“Hong Kong should be the International Talent Hub for Asia, China and the GBA (Greater Bay Area)”, he said.

The distinguished guests who witnessed the signing included Herman Hu, deputy of National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China; Samgat Yermekbayev, vice-rector of Satbayev University; Chan; Kamil Bekenov, vice-consul of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Hong Kong and Macao; and Jennifer Cheung, secretary general of the association.
