HK agencies suspend mainland group tours

HONG KONG - A number of travel agencies in Hong Kong have decided to cancel group tours to the Chinese mainland. The decision by travel agencies to cancel group tours comes as Hong Kong confirmed two cases of a novel virus that had its origin in Central China's Wuhan, capital of Hubei province.

Chinese health authorities announced 830 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) & 25 deaths

Hong Thai Travel Services will cancel all mainland-bound tours slated to depart Hong Kong between Jan 25 and 31. Affected tourists can opt for alternative tours, postpone or cancel their packages for a fee. This will be applicable to some 80 group tours involving 2,500 tourists.

China Travel Services and Morning Star Travel Service have announced similar arrangements. 

EGL Holdings wil cancel all mainland-bound tour groups slated to depart Hong Kong between Jan 24 and Feb 29. This will be aplicable to some 160 tour groups involving 4,000 tourists. 

Wing On Travel is cancelling group tours scheduled between Jan 25 and Feb 25.

On Friday, Chinese health authorities announced 830 confirmed cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) and 25 deaths.
