HKBU appoints three associate vice-presidents

The Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) announced the appointments of Professor Allan Chan, Professor Huang Yu and Professor Ricky Wong to the post of associate vice-president with effect from Jan 1, 2014.  

Professor Allan Chan, acting dean of HKBU’s School of Business and executive associate dean of the Graduate School, will focus on supporting academic planning. Professor Huang Yu, dean of the University’s School of Communication, takes more responsibility for Mainland activities, in particular the HKBU Changshu Research Institute and the HKBU (Haimen) Institute of Science and Technology. Professor Ricky Wong, associate dean of the Faculty of Science, will promote the development of whole person education.  

Professor Albert Chan, president and vice-chancellor, said: “The post of associate vice-president is a concurrent appointment which aims to involve more senior colleagues in University management at the most senior, corporate and strategic levels and to strengthen the University’s senior management team in meeting different challenges ahead. I would like to thank Professor Chan, Professor Huang and Professor Wong for their willingness to take on additional responsibilities on top of their current duties.”  

The other current associate vice-presidents of HKBU are Professor Frank Fu, Professor Tang Tao and Professor Bian Zhaoxiang.
