Elephant parade
Officials from Thailand's Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation bring a seven-year-old female elephant Phang Rittireuchai (centre) to drink water, along with her elephant friends. Phang Rittireuchai was later released into the Kaeng Krajan Forest in Prachuap Khiri Khan’s Hua Hin district on Aug 5. The elephant, which will wear a ‘radio collar’ tracking device, was treated for poisoning at the Rittireuchai Warfare Training Centre for 46 days. Its release is a merit-making gesture to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 83rd birthday on Aug 12. (Photos provided by The Nation / ANN )
