Thousands of spectators in Hong Kong celebrate the start of a new year in Tsim Sha Tsui as fireworks illuminate the city’s skyline. The dazzling pyromusical display, staged at Victoria Harbour on Jan 1, was the largest ever held there. The festive mood reached its climax when a series of fireworks, set off in an ascending pattern, crowned the world-famous skyline for the first eight minutes of the new year. Countdown celebrations were also hosted at Times Square in Causeway Bay and Lan Kwai Fong in Central. Public transport service hours were extended for late night commuters.
