HANGZHOU, July 5 - Eleven people have been confirmed dead in a factory building collapse in east China's Zhejiang Province as of Sunday afternoon, local government said.

Three others are missing. Another 33 were injured in the collapse, four of whom were seriously hurt.

According to the local police, 51 people were working in a shoe factory in Folong Village, Wenling City when the building collapsed at around 4 pm Saturday.

Nine narrowly escaped. Rescuers pulled 42 out of the rubble and sent them to the hospital as of 1:30 am, nine of whom died despite treatment.

After verification, five of the injured were not employees of the company. Two bodies were later retrieved from the ruins Sunday afternoon, leaving three missing as of now.

Local authorities have dispatched 53 firefighting trucks, 302 rescuers and five sniffer dogs. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
