Hong Kong employees can enjoy six long weekends next year, according to the government's announcement on Friday of 17 public holidays in 2018.

Two public holidays next year will fall on a Friday and a Monday, which would give local employees a four-day weekend. The four-day weekends will take place over Lunar New Year, from Feb 16 (Friday) to Feb 19 (Monday), and Easter, from Good Friday on March 30 to Easter Monday on April 2.

Another four public holidays – public holiday on Jan 1, the Dragon Boat Festival, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day and National Day – will fall on a Monday, giving workers a three-day weekend.

For those who want to enjoy 10 days off, they can apply for three additional days of leave after the Easter break, then they can have a long holiday from Good Friday to April 8, which include the Ching Ming Festival on April 5.

During Christmas, employees can apply for four additional days of leave to enjoy an 11-day vacation from Dec 22 to Jan 1, 2019.
