Prostitute killer commits suicide at prison

By GIS

HONG KONG - A man serving life imprisonment for killing three prostitutes in 2008 hanged himself in Shek Pik Prison on Lantau on Thursday morning.

Nadeem Razaq, aged 31, a Hong Kong resident of Pakistani origin, was found hanging with his pullover tied to the bars of his cell at about 6.44 am.

Correctional staff immediately provided first aid treatment to Razaq and called for an ambulance. He was certified dead at 8.23 am.

The Correctional Services Department has reported the case to the police. A death inquest will be held by the Coroner's Court.

Razaq was found guilty in 2009 of murdering three prostitutes, who had been operating one-woman brothels. Their bodies were found over three days in March in 2008.

Razaq came to Hong Kong when he was only one year old. He left school after Form Four and worked in a motor repair workshop but was unemployed at the time of the murders.
