Thai authorities made the decision to refuse Joshua Wong's entry to their country

Leung Chun-ying, Chief Executive

HONG KONG - Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said Thai authorities made the decision to refuse Joshua Wong entry to their country.

Leung made the statement on Tuesday saying the Thai government announced previously the decision was made due to the imminent holding of the 2nd Asia Co-operation Dialogue Summit in Bangkok.

He said a sovereign state has the right to allow or refuse a person entry in accordance with its law and entry policy, and the Thai government stated clearly the refusal was its own decision.

In response to a popularity poll on potential Chief Executive election candidates, Leung said the results would be more valuable if those included had confirmed their intention to run and given their election platforms.
