HONG KONG - The giant water slide “Slide The City HONG KONG 2016” finally opened in the afternoon after a five-hour delay due to a failure to obtain in time a Temporary Places of Public Entertainment License from the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

The park was originally scheduled to open in the morning but the organizers announced the delay, claiming they had to resolve “technical issues” before operations could commence.

The organizers on Tuesday decided to upgrade the facilities to improve the experience following a media tour – however this required reapplication for a relevant license from the authorities.

Those who purchased entrance tickets for Wednesday’s morning session can seek a refund with extra free tickets for other sessions, park organizers said.

The facilities, including a 10-meter-tall water slide, a bouncy maze, and many other amusements, have all been given a clean bill of health, project director of the event Kwok Ka-Yan reiterated.

She apologized for the inconvenience caused, explaining that the issuance of the license was delayed due to paperwork. “Providing such supplementary documentation usually takes time,” she said.
