HONG KONG - The election for the city’s next leader will be held March 26, 2017, while that for the preceding electoral committee was slated for Dec 11 this year.

Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Raymond Tam told lawmakers on Tuesday that more than HK$608 million has been set aside for the selection process for the SAR’s fifth chief executive.

Tam added the government is readying guidelines for the September Legislative Council elections following the end of public consultations which ended on April 1, with the new protocols set to be released by the end of June.
