For 90-year-old Lam Chun, a veteran of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, the memory of her sister's torture by Japanese soldiers in 1943 is both a personal and national wound—one that galvanized her family to join the Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column. In an exclusive interview with China Daily, Lam Chun said that while the country was under occupation, no family could find peace. The well-being of every family is inseparable from the strength and stability of the nation.
