Moon Jae-in, president of the Republic of Korea, met on Thursday with a group of senior editors and journalists from the Asia News Network, an alliance of 24 leading English-language newspapers from 20 countries in Asia.

Moon briefed the group about current situations related to the ROK and the region.

Moon expressed hopes for further dialogues between the United States and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, as well as the willingness to mediate between the two.

“(US) President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong-un both expressed commitment to continue dialogue. (I) hope the third DPRK-US summit is held soon,” Moon said at a meeting with senior leaders of the Asia News Network in Seouly.

“(I) will meet Chairman Kim as early as possible, and will facilitate a DPRK-US summit.”

The second Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi in February ended without an agreement, and Moon has since called for a fourth inter-Korean summit to be arranged. According to reports, Moon has a message from Trump to Kim, which he will deliver at his next meeting with the DPRK leader.

Representatives from the 20 countries are gathering in Seoul at ANN’s board meeting, which also marks the 20th anniversary of the media alliance.
