NEW DELHI – Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the 18th BRICS Summit here on Saturday.  

Xi is in New Delhi to attend the summit, which will be held from Sept 12 to 13, at the invitation of Prime Minister of the Republic of India Narendra Modi.

At the summit, Xi will join other leaders in charting a new course for the high-quality development of greater BRICS cooperation, pooling the collective strength of the Global South and contributing stability and positive momentum to a world undergoing profound changes.

Xi left the Chinese capital, Beijing, Saturday morning to attend the summit.

His entourage includes Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee, and Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese foreign minister.
