WASHINGTON/STOCKHOLM/TEHERAN/UNITED NATIONS/ISTANBUL/BERLIN - The US Department of the Treasury is imposing sanctions on 13 more entities and 11 more individuals allegedly linked to Iran, according to a statement from the department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
The individuals sanctioned are all Iranian citizens, including those tied to Iran's law enforcement forces or the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and at least three connected to the energy sector, the updated Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list showed.
The entities targeted include a prison in Iran's Alborz province and eight companies based in the United Arab Emirates.
According to the OFAC notice, the assets of individuals and entities placed on the SDN list are blocked, and US persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
US President Donald Trump said Wednesday his administration has been informed that the killing has stopped in Iran and will "watch and see what the process is."
Speaking on Fox News, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday urged the White House to seek diplomacy so as not to "repeat the same mistake," saying that "now there is a calm. We are in full control."
Protests have been held since late December in several Iranian cities. Authorities said they are prepared to address economic grievances, while warning against violence, vandalism and unrest.
Initially peaceful, the protests gradually escalated into violence, resulting in casualties and damage to public property, including mosques, government buildings and banks. Iranian authorities have attributed the unrest to interference by the United States and Israel.

'Trump keeps all options'
Trump is keeping all options on the table for responding to Iran's unrest, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday.
"The president and his team are closely monitoring this situation, and all options remain on the table for the president," she said at a press briefing, warning of "grave consequences" if the killing continues in Iran.
Citing a senior US official, The New York Times reported Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to Trump on Wednesday, asking the White House to postpone any US military attack on Iran, which Trump reportedly has been weighing for days.
The US military is evacuating troops from Middle East bases and sending reinforcements to the region, according to a report by US media outlet Axios.

Foreign ministers exchange views
Araghchi and his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Thursday exchanged views on the recent unrest in Iran.
During a phone call, the two sides expressed their determination to promote bilateral relations across all fields, discussed the latest regional and international developments, and called for continued consultations and joint efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region, according to a statement from Iran's Foreign Ministry.
Araghchi briefed his Saudi counterpart on recent developments in Iran, saying that peaceful protests over economic grievances turned violent on Jan 8 and 9 following what he described as the "organized entry of Israeli-affiliated terrorists."
Araghchi has also exchanged views with his Egyptian and Indian counterparts.
In two separate phone calls on Wednesday night, he also discussed the latest regional developments as well as bilateral ties with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, according to statements released by the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Russia condemns US interference
Russian UN ambassador Vassily Nebenzia said Thursday that his country condemns all forms of external interference, incitement to violence, and threats of use of force against Iran.
At a Security Council meeting on the situation in Iran, Nebenzia called on the United States to put an end to its escalatory actions.
He noted that "the extremely dangerous and irresponsible rhetoric" in recent days by the US leadership has gone as far as openly calling for the takeover of state institutions of Iran and threats to assist the protesters.
"Such statements amount to nothing other than incitement to violently overthrow the constitutional order of a sovereign state," said the ambassador.

Türkiye opposes military operation
Türkiye opposes any military operation against Iran and supports efforts to preserve regional stability, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said here on Thursday.
At a press briefing, Fidan said he hoped the United States and Iran would resolve the matter between themselves, either through mediators, other parties, or direct negotiations.
He stressed that dialogue remains the only viable path to resolving disputes, warning that any large-scale instability in Iran would exceed the region's capacity to absorb its consequences.
Emphasizing Türkiye's close ties with its eastern neighbor, Fidan said developments in Iran are of direct concern to Ankara.
Fidan added that Iran must address its internal problems, resolve disputes with neighboring countries, and pursue diplomacy on the nuclear issue to remove the structural causes of its economic difficulties.
Airlines recommendation
Germany's air traffic control authority DFS on Thursday issued a recommendation advising airlines to avoid Iranian airspace until February 10, citing heightened regional tensions.
The recommendation was made at the instruction of the German Ministry of Transport, according to a DFS spokesperson and local media reports.
The move follows a preemptive decision by Germany's Lufthansa Group to restrict its flight operations in the Middle East, according to German media reports.
