Anticipating the heavy passenger traffic, the department minimized leave for frontline officers and deployed additional security guards to provide crowd management support.

The frequency of MTR trains was also increased after the fireworks display on Tuesday night while local public transport operators arranged spare vehicles to meet the needs of cross-boundary travelers, according to the Transport Department.
