HONG KONG - Hong Kong prepared for heavy rains and strong winds on Thursday as Super Typhoon Yagi edged closer to the city.

The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted the typhoon signal No. 8 at 6:20 pm, with Yagi expected to skirt around 300 kilometers to the southwest of Hong Kong on Thursday night and Friday morning.
