Xi extends condolences to Ethiopian president over landslide disaster

BEIJING - Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday extended condolences to Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde over the severe landslide disaster in her country.

In his message, Xi said that he was shocked to learn of the severe landslide disaster in the South Ethiopia Regional State, which has caused heavy casualties and property losses.

On behalf of the Chinese government and people, Xi mourned those killed in the landslide and expressed sincere sympathy to the bereaved families and the injured.

Xi said he believes that the people of Ethiopia will surely overcome difficulties and rebuild their homeland.
