JAKARTA - Chinese shuttlers on Friday delivered another convincing performance, advancing to the semifinals in all events at the 2024 Indonesia Open badminton tournament held at the Istora Senayan stadium.
Top-seeded mixed doubles players Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong outclassed Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong, China, 21-17, 21-10, and will face the Thai duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the semifinals.
Fellow Chinese pair Jiang Zhenbang and Wei Yaxin also secured a semifinal spot after beating their compatriots Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping 21-17, 11-21, 21-16. The duo were ready to take on Malaysia's Tan Kian Meng and Lai Pei Jing for the final.
In men's doubles, Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang defeated the Malaysian duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin 18-21, 21-18, 21-19 and will play Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen of Denmark for the final
Two pairs of Chinese players in the women's doubles have also made it to the semifinals. The first pair is Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, who defeated Tan Pearly and Thinaah Muralitharan of Malaysia 22-20, 21-18. The pair will vie against the Japanese duo Mayu Matsumoto and Wakana Nagahara in the semifinals.

Their compatriots Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning bested Zhang Shuxian and Zheng Yu 21-12, 21-10 to set up a clash against the South Korean duo Baek Hana and Lee Sohee.

Women's singles player Wang Zhiyi will vie against South Korea's An Seyoung for the final after defeating Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia 21-8, 21-18. Her compatriot in the same category Chen Yufei also entered the semifinal stage after defeating Sung Shuoyun of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-7 and will face Carolina Marin of Spain for the final.
In men's singles, Shi Yuqi defeated France's Toma Junior Popov in a three-set thriller 17-21, 21-10, 21-18. He will fight against his countryman Li Shifeng for the final.
The 2024 Indonesia Open will conclude on Sunday, with total prize money for the tournament amounting to 1.3 million U.S. dollars.
