HONG KONG – Temperatures in parts of Hong Kong are expected to go down to as low as 2 degrees Celsius on Tuesday as an intense winter monsoon affects the region, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The Observatory said temperatures in the city will range from 7 C to 10 C on Tuesday but areas in the New Territories could see the mercury dip to 2 C or 4 C.
Ta Kwu Ling could see temperatures hover around 2 C between 6 am and 8 am on Tuesday before going up to 8.9 C around 3 pm, according to the Observatory
“It will be very cold, cloudy to overcast with a few rain patches on Tuesday. The temperature will fall to around 7 degrees in the urban areas and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories," the Observatory said.
"There may also be icing conditions on high ground. As the wind chill effect will be significant, the temperature felt by body will be lower than the actual temperature,” it added.

According to the Observatory, Ta Kwu Ling could see temperatures hover around 2 C between 6 am and 8 am on Tuesday before going up to 8.9 C around 3 pm.
Shek Kok could see a low of 4 C and 5 C for Tuen Mun, Lau Fa Shan, Sheung Shui, Tai Po and Sha Tin. Tsing Yi and Sai Kung could see 6 C while Tseung Kwan O could register 5 C.
Wong Chuk Hang on Hong Kong Island could see 7 C, 5 C for Cheung Chau, and 6 C for Discovery Bay on Lantau.
Temperatures on Sunday in the city ranged from 16 C to 21 C and the Observatory said these will go down to a range of 10 C to 18 C on Monday, 7 to 10 C on Tuesday, 8 C to 12 C on Wednesday, and 11 C to 16 C on Thursday.

The Observatory reminded members of the public to keep warm, and take care of the elderly and persons with chronic medical conditions.
“It will still be cold throughout the day on Wednesday and Thursday morning,” it added.
