Fire at Yuen Long garage doused

HONG KONG – A fire broke out at a garage in Pak Sha Tsuen, Yuen Long in the early hours of Tuesday and was brought under control in around three hours. 

No casualties have been reported so far.

Huge flames engulfed the scene shortly after the fire began at 0:14 am, prompting several residents to call the authorities, local media reported.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and the fire was upgraded to No. 3 alarm in about half an hour.

The firemen used three jets and mobilized three breathing apparatus teams to fight the blaze, the government said in a statement.

Residents affected by smoke, or an unusual odor, were advised to close their doors and windows and remain calm.

The fire was surrounded at 3 am, put under control at 3:33 am and largely put out at 4:02 am, according to the statement.

According to the local media, 30 people and four dogs had to be evacuated to a safe location during the incident.
