NEW DELHI -- Four Indian Supreme Court's senior judges said on Friday the manner in which the court is being conducted was not in order and less desirable.

The four judges held a press conference in New Delhi.

"It is an extraordinary event in the history of any nation. There is no pleasure in this, we were compelled to do this, the administration of the Supreme Court is not in order," Justice Chelameswar said to the press.

"We owe a responsibility to the institution and the nation. Our efforts have failed in convincing the Chief Justice to take steps to protect the institution."

The Supreme Court of India is the highest judicial forum and final court of appeal under the constitution of India, consisting of the chief justice and other 25 sanctioned judges.
