TEHRAN - French coach Herve Renard has reached an agreement with Iran Football Federation to take the reins of the Iranian national soccer team, Tehran Times daily reported Thursday.

A source close to Iran Football Federation was quoted as saying that the 50-year-old French coach, who had been managing the Morocco national team since February 2016, would be introduced as new coach of Iran.

Iran did not extend the contract with Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz in late January after failing to claim the AFC Asian Cup title in UAE.
