Medium- and long-term institutional investors have increased holdings of China's A shares despite recent heightened market volatility, reflecting confidence in the stock market's long-term prospects, official data showed.

The national social security fund, insurance funds, mutual funds and securities firms have bucked the market downturn and posted net purchases of A shares overall since October.

From September 2024 to September 2026, the national social security fund, basic pension funds, annuity funds and insurance funds made combined net purchases of more than 1.5 trillion yuan ($226 billion) in the A-share market, providing substantial support for market stability.
