HONG KONG – The redeveloped Huanggang Port will officially open and start operations from 6:30 am on Monday, providing 24-hour clearance services for passengers and passenger vehicles.

Speaking at a press conference organized to announce the opening, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said the Huanggang Port is ready for safe, efficient and smooth use, adding that the authorities will ensure its launch is successful.

Once into operation, the revamped port is expected to reshape cross-boundary inno-tech and logistics, boosting long-term industrial collaboration with other central and western border checkpoints.

The governments of Guangdong and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region decided the commencement date after a series of tests and trials.

The new port building has passed "acceptance inspection", the SAR’s Security Bureau and the Office of Port of Entry and Exit of the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government said in a joint statement on Friday morning.

“Following the completion of a series of system tests, trials and emergency drills by both Hong Kong and Shenzhen, it has been confirmed that the port is ready for opening,” reads the statement.
