Asian Games: HK sailors win double gold, medal haul adds four

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region’s delegation won four medals at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan on Friday, including two gold and one silver bagged by the sailing squad.

In the boys’ event, 15-year-old Asian Games debutants, Ethan Kiu and Louis Polson dominated a six-team field, winning all 12 races to take gold on Friday morning.

Fellow games newcomers Chloe Kong and McCarley Wong competed against three other teams in the girls’ event, winning nine of the 12 races to secure first place.

In addition, Olympian Nicholas Halliday claimed silver in the men’s ILCA 7 dinghy, only two points behind South Korean champion Ha Jee-min.

The SAR’s women’s squash team also won silver after losing 1-2 to Malaysia in an intense match.

As of 3 pm on Friday, the SAR delegation has won 44 medals in the tournament, including seven gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze.
