The Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Dubai Financial Services Authority announced on Monday that the third edition of their joint climate finance conference will be held next month in the city as a main event of the Hong Kong Green Week 2026.

The HKMA-DFSA Joint Climate Finance Conference, scheduled on September 10, aims to support and enable the continued development of climate finance across Asia and the Middle East, the HKMA said in a statement.

Themed "Driving Transition in a Changing World", this flagship initiative jointly established by the HKMA and the DFSA is also supported by Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd and Nasdaq Dubai.

"As global uncertainty challenges green transition, leading sustainable finance hubs like Hong Kong and Dubai must align to drive capital towards real-world solutions,” Chief Executive of the HKMA Eddie Yue Wai-man was quoted as saying in the statement.

“We are excited to facilitate the cross-regional dialogue, and look forward to moving beyond discussion to unlock tangible business and investment opportunities."

The conference will convene corporate leaders, investors and policymakers to explore partnerships, financing solutions and innovations required to support a viable and credible green transition amid global uncertainty.

Discussions will focus on the emerging and strategic sectors in Hong Kong and Dubai, featuring keynote addresses, fireside chats, and panel discussions that will also highlight how the two international financial centers can serve as catalysts of transition finance.

"This conference reflects the strong partnership between the DFSA and the HKMA, providing a valuable platform to exchange perspectives, strengthen cross-border collaboration, and support the continued development of sustainable finance across our regions," said Chief Executive of the DFSA Mark Steward.

The first HKMA–DFSA Joint Climate Finance Conference was held on Sept 16, 2024 and explored green financing business opportunities arising from the need for climate transition.

The DFSA and the HKMA have collaborated on numerous fronts, including fostering and supporting innovation in their respective markets.
