Drama at Kai Tak: Inter Milan claims Asahi Super Dry Trophy on penalties

Reigning Serie A champions FC Internazionale Milano edged past Manchester City in a high-stakes penalty shootout to lift the Asahi Super Dry Trophy at a packed Kai Tak Stadium on Saturday.
In front of 42,826 roaring fans, City's Divin Mubama opened the scoring in the 14th minute off a slick play by Antoine Semenyo, only for Inter's Benjamin Pavard to level the game just six minutes later. After a tense 1-1 deadlock at full-time, Inter’s Matteo Lavelli coolly buried the winning spot-kick to secure a 3-1 shootout victory and send the crowd into complete delirium!
Beyond the pitch, the Hong Kong Football Festival 2026 showcased the city's vibrant "ticket stub economy". Fans from across the globe and the Greater Bay Area packed the surrounding Kai Tak Retail Malls, snapping up merch, taking selfies with mascots, and taking advantage of local dining and shopping deals. The festival action continues on Aug 5, when Chelsea FC takes on Juventus for The Herbalgy Trophy.
