BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.07 percent to 3,867.03 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.42 percent lower at 14,061.44 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by these two indices stood at 2.65 trillion yuan ($390 billion), down from 2.97 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to precious metals and aesthetic medicine led the gains, while those related to robotics and games were among the top decliners.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 3.23 percent to close at 3,566.73 points.
The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 2.25 percent lower at 2,014.1 points.
