BANGKOK – The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) on Monday kicked off its first large-scale promotional campaign in Southeast Asia, “WestK in Bangkok,” a week-long initiative running through July 12.
The campaign aims to position West Kowloon Cultural District (WestK) as a leading cultural tourism destination, featuring trade activities and a creative crossover with beloved Thai idol Butterbear.
The campaign includes a travel trade luncheon, a networking dinner with business leaders and installations at Siam Paragon, Bangkok’s premier lifestyle destination.
Supported by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok and Invest Hong Kong with BTS Group as Promotional Partner and Siam Paragon as Venue Partner, the initiative promotes WestK’s brand spirit to Thai audiences.

Central to the campaign is a collaboration with Butterbear, featuring two creative installations of “Butterbear’s WestK Experience” at Siam Paragon from July 6 to 12. Visitors can engage in immersive photo checkpoints for a stamp-collection activity and redeem limited-edition “WestK x Butterbear” souvenirs.
Through Butterbear’s artistic journey at WestK earlier this month, the collaboration highlights WestK’s iconic venues, including M+, Hong Kong Palace Museum and Xiqu Centre, alongside its performing arts programs.
WKCDA Chairman Bernard Charnwut Chan emphasized WestK’s vision as a world-class cultural hub, noting its 40-hectare site along Victoria Harbour and over 500,000 square meters of commercial space.
“WestK aspires to become Hong Kong’s ‘Cultural CBD’,” he said, citing the Artist Square Towers project — a 65,000-square-metre public-private partnership set for completion in 2027-28.

CEO Betty Fung highlighted WestK’s role as a cultural tourism landmark, integrating arts with unique activities.
“We hope to inspire more Thai visitors to experience WestK as a destination where arts, culture, and opportunity converge,” she said.
Highlights for late 2026 include refreshed exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, M+ special exhibitions like “Design Ah!” and “Myths and Monsters,” the WestK Jazz Fest in November, and the WestK Christmas Fest in December.
