
Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and senior Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government officials will attend a flag-raising ceremony and a reception on Wednesday to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
The flag-raising ceremony will be held at Golden Bauhinia Square outside the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai at 8 am, according to an HKSAR government statement.

Community leaders and members of uniformed groups will attend the ceremony while no public viewing area will be set up, it added.
The Police Band will perform at the ceremony, and a choir from Belilios Public School and Queen's College will sing the national anthem under the lead of singers Albert Lim and Vivian Yau, followed by a fly-past and a sea parade by the disciplined services.
The celebration reception, to be officiated by Lee, will be held at the HKEC’s Grand Hall after the flag-raising ceremony.

The HKSAR government earlier announced other celebratory events that will take place across all of the city’s 18 districts, including carnivals and variety shows.
Commuters can ride the tram for free from Wednesday to Friday while MTR Corp – the city’s sole rail operator – will give away 71,000 domestic single-journey tickets through a lucky draw on the MTR mobile app.

Indoor and outdoor facilities managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will also be open to the public free of charge, including public swimming pools and permanent exhibitions at the Hong Kong Science Museum and Hong Kong Space Museum, as well as the Wetland Park.
Designated exhibitions at the M+ Museum and all thematic exhibitions at the Hong Kong Palace Museum will also be open to the public for free.
