The Shanghai Opera House Dance Ensemble staged dance drama Lady White Snake at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre on Friday.

The production, starring international star Tan Yuanyuan as artistic director, blends ballet with Chinese folk dance to reimagine the classic The Legend of the White Snake as a modern woman’s journey of self-discovery.

The drama, performed on Friday and Saturday evenings, marks the premiere of the third Chinese Culture Festival, which runs through September.
