Construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is among the top priorities for the economic and social development of Guangdong province during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-30), according to a newly announced plan.
Released by local authorities on Tuesday, the plan sets out 22 indicators across economic development, innovation-driven growth, people's well-being, urban and rural areas, green and low-carbon development, and security assurance. It aims to persistently promote the development of the GBA to create a vibrant and internationally competitive first-class bay area and world-class urban cluster.
Specifically, the province plans to collaborate with the two special administrative regions to strengthen consultation and cooperation mechanisms to build an innovation hub, an industrial highland, and an open gateway.
