BEIJING – China expresses its strong indignation and stern condemnation over Japan's series of negative moves concerning the Yasukuni Shrine, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a regular news briefing when asked to comment on Japanese lawmakers' visit to the notorious Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo, a symbol of Japanese militarism and wartime aggression.

Replying to another query about Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's claim that she was prepared for a "long-term conflict" during a panel tasked with reviewing her country's security and defense policies, Lin said all peace-loving countries in the world must remain highly vigilant and firmly resist Japan's reckless moves of neo-militarism.

Japan has not only failed to do serious soul-searching of its past wars of aggression, but also attempted to resume military expansion, he said, adding: "The international community will never accept this."
