Three Chinese fencers qualify for men's main draw at Budapest Epee Grand Prix

BUDAPEST - Three Chinese fencers secured their places in the men's main draw at the International Fencing Federation (FIE) Epee Grand Prix here on Saturday.

The three-day event features both men's and women's individual competitions, attracting 356 male and 282 female fencers. Apart from the absence of the world No 4 in the men's individual event Ruslan Kurbanov of Kazakhstan, all other top-eight ranked fencers in both men's and women's categories are competing.

China fielded 10 fencers in the men's qualification rounds while 27-year-old Yang Fengming, 23-year-old Zhang Xinkun and 22-year-old Huang Yuxuan, progressed to the main draw.

On Sunday, the women's and men's main draw bouts will take place in succession, with Liu Chang, Xu Nuo, Yang Jingwen and Li Shanshan set to compete in the women's event.
