China welcomes all efforts conducive to a ceasefire and an end to the fighting in the Middle East, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Wednesday, following reports that US-Iran peace talks could resume within the next two days.

"China appreciates Pakistan's role in facilitating the temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran and its fair and balanced mediation efforts," Guo said.

He said the pressing priority is to do everything possible to prevent a resumption of hostilities, sustain the hard-won ceasefire momentum, and stay committed to resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means.
