China strongly condemned the attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon that injured three peacekeepers, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the March 6 attack on UNIFIL, which left three peacekeepers from Ghana injured, his spokesperson said.

At a daily news briefing, spokesperson for the ministry Guo Jiakun extended China's sympathies to the injured and stressed that any deliberate attack against UN peacekeeping personnel seriously violates international humanitarian law, UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and is absolutely unacceptable.

Such acts must stop immediately, Guo said.
