Wang Chuqin, Sun Yingsha advance into semifinals at Singapore Smash

SINGAPORE -- World men's and women's No 1 Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha of China advanced into the semifinals at the 2026 WTT Singapore Smash on Saturday.

In the men's singles, Wang defeated South Korea's Jang Woo-jin 4-0. The world champion will take on France's Felix Lebrun, who upset China's former world No 1 Lin Shidong 4-2.

The other semifinal will be held between Olympic silver medalist Truls Moregard of Sweden and Chinese Taipei's Lin Yun-ju. Moregard, who took an early lead 3-0, was held 3-3 before sealing the victory 11-6 in the deciding game. Lin Yun-ju defeated Germany's Patrick Franziska 4-1 in another quarterfinal.

In the women's singles, Sun, the Olympic silver winner, beat Japan's Hina Hayata 4-2 to set up an all-Chinese semifinal showdown against Chen Yi, a 4-0 winner over teammate Chen Xingtong.

Wang Manyu, also a Chinese player, overcame Japan's Miwa Harimoto 4-2 and will face Germany's Sabine Winter, who defeated fellow Chinese Wang Yidi 4-2.
