
Hong Kong’s Land Registry recorded 7,631 sale and purchase agreements for all building units received for registration in January, down 15.2 percent compared with those in December but up 54.5 percent year-on-year, according to official data released on Tuesday.
The total consideration for such agreements last month decreased 12 percent from the previous month to HK$57.2 billion ($7.32 billion), but showed a 55.8 percent increase compared with January 2025.
Of the agreements, 5,669 were for residential units, representing a 3.6 percent decrease from December and an increase of 56.3 percent from a year ago.

The total consideration for residential units in January was HK$49.2 billion, 3.9 percent lower compared with that in December but 84.1 percent higher year-on-year.
Also, there were 426,296 land register searches last month, up 12.8 percent compared with December and a 27.5 percent increase year-on-year, the data showed.
