China's Emergency Management Minister Wang Xiangxi under investigation

Wang Xiangxi, minister of emergency management, is currently under investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission for alleged serious disciplinary and legal violations.

Born in August 1962, Wang has been a prominent figure in both the coal industry and government sectors.

Wang, a native of Xiantao, Hubei, began his career in the coal industry after graduating from the Jiaozuo Mining Institute in Henan province.

In 2017, he was appointed as a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission.

In July 2022, Wang was appointed Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Emergency Management, and by September, he officially became its minister.
