WELLINGTON -- China's Wang Xinyu saved a match point to beat the Philippines' Alexandra Eala 5-7, 7-5, 6-4 on Saturday and reached the ASB Classic final in Auckland, New Zealand, her second WTA singles final.
Wang, 24, saved a match point at 5-4 in the second set and rallied to level the match. She held firm in the two-hour, 48-minute contest before closing out the third set after Eala took a timeout for a back issue.
The seventh seed, who led 5-2 in the first set before dropping it, will face top seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine in Sunday's final of the WTA 250 event.

"It was a crazy battle from the start to the end. She's an absolute fighter and, to be honest, I feel more pressure when I'm 5-0 up," world No 57 Wang said.
Eala, 20, fought back repeatedly in the match.
"When she started playing unbelievable, there was nothing much I could do other than just clap for her good shots," Wang said of her No 53-ranked opponent.

"I want to give credit to myself too for trying to get to every ball, try to give her one more shot to play," Wang said, adding that she had never thought about making it to the final.
Wang is the first Chinese player to reach the ASB Classic singles final since Zheng Jie won the title in 2012. She previously reached a WTA final on grass in Berlin last June, before losing to Czech player Marketa Vondrousova.
