HONG KONG – The US-China Hong Kong Forum will return to the special administrative region on Monday, with the aim of strengthening Sino-US relations and advancing dialogue on shared global challenges.
Hosted by nonprofit organization China-United States Exchange Foundation, the flagship event brings together senior diplomats, politicians, business leaders, and experts across sectors.
Themed “Circles for Peace”, the sixth edition of the forum will feature high-level discussions on rebuilding trust and cooperation amid global disruption, while also exploring ethical and cross-border dimensions of technology adoption.
Fashion’s big bang
Fashion fans, hold onto your hats, the industry’s next shift is set to make tick at the 2025 World Apparel Conference, which will begin on Sunday in the country’s denim capital, the Humen town in Dongguan, Guangdong province.
The two-day conference will feature a spectacular opening, a high-stakes dialogue on the “Humen Vision”, three thematic sessions covering tech, creativity, and sustainability, plus more networking sessions – all designed to push the limits and to fashion the new vogue.
Latest labor force status
Hong Kong’s Census and Statistics Department will release labor force figures for the August-October period on Tuesday.
In the previous July-September period, the city recorded an unemployment rate of 3.9 percent, while the underemployment rate stood at 1.6 percent. Total employment declined to 3,674,500.
Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han said last month that the continued expansion of the Hong Kong economy was expected to support job growth. However, the employment situation in some sectors would continue to face challenges during economic restructuring, and the increasing external uncertainties could also weigh on corporate hiring sentiment, he added.
