More than 2.4 billion cross-regional passenger trips are expected to be made during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn holiday, ending on Wednesday, setting a new record and demonstrating people's strong desire to travel, the Ministry of Transport said on Wednesday.

The holiday, which began on Oct 1, is expected to see 304 million trips daily, a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent.
The steady rise in travel is a result of vibrant tourism, family reunions, and strong demand during the combined "Golden Week" holiday period, it said.
