XI'AN, China - Newly-crowned world champion Zhao Xintong of China got his 2025 World Snooker Xi'an Grand Prix campaign off to a good start as he saw off Wang Xinbo 5-2 on Tuesday.

When facing Wang, Zhao bagged an easy win in the first frame. Although Wang Xinbo drew level in the second frame, Zhao took a 3-1 lead after bagging two frames consecutively before heading into the intermission.

Although Wang pulled another frame back, Zhao held his nerve to win the sixth and seventh frames, seeing the 17-year-old Wang eliminated from the tournament.

"I was sick and I am taking pills in these days. It is a tough game, I have to try my 200 percent best to qualify for the next round," Zhao told Xinhua after the game.

"It is my first time to play the big event in Xi'an. The audience is very enthusiastic, I will bring them good performances in the next few days." Zhao added.

Judd Trump, who notched the ninth perfect 147 in his professional career, beat Ng On-yee of Hong Kong, China 5-2 and secured his place in the second round.

Trump took a 3-1 lead before the intermission. In the fifth frame, his milestone moment sent the attendance into frenzy. Although Ng pulled one back in the sixth frame, a 99-5 win was enough for the British legend to qualify for the second round.

"It was a tough game, she had a very good first frame. After that, I had played quite well," said Trump.

"Everybody else has made a lot of 147 recently. It's always very nice to make one very special in front of the fans." The World No 1 noted.

When facing the host player Huang Jiahao, Allen Hill fired 147 in the second frame, securing his position in the next round after pocketing a 5-2 win.
