HONG KONG — More than 30,000 fireworks will light up the sky over Victoria Harbour on Wednesday to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Themed "Victoria Harbour Fireworks Shine Across the Motherland", this year’s display will begin at 8:00 pm and last approximately 23 minutes, according to a government statement released on Monday.
Consisting of eight scenes, the fireworks show will open with "Fireworks Bloom to Celebrate National Day", featuring images of peony, golden chrysanthemum and silver glittering spherical fireworks.
One of the highlights is the fourth scene, "Always Lovable Giant Pandas", where multiple giant panda face patterns will bloom across the sky, accompanied by green salute fireworks symbolizing bamboo forests.
The fifth scene, "Inherited Affection for Family and Motherland", will present a grand display of colorful salute fireworks and heart-shaped bursts, representing the deep love of the Chinese people for their country.

The extravaganza will reach its climax with the grand finale, "Forging Ahead on the Road to Rejuvenation", as golden, silver, and red fireworks sweep across the night sky above Victoria Harbour.
“This finale expresses best wishes for the prosperity and strength of the great motherland and for Hong Kong's prosperity and stability,” the statement reads.
Coordinated by the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau and sponsored by the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the fireworks can be viewed from numerous vantage points on both sides of the harbor — including Tsim Sha Tsui, the Mid-Levels, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, and the Hung Hom Bypass.
