HONG KONG – The Bay Area Store of Shenzhen Book City, dubbed the Eye of Bay Area, will open on Sept 26.

Directly connected to Baohua Station on Metro Line 5, the 131,000-square-meter complex is divided into north and south zones, with two floors above ground and two below. Incorporating a “culture+” concept that blends diverse functions, it is the largest brick-and-mortar book mall in the world.

The cultural and lifestyle hub aims to offer residents of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area an all-in-one destination for cultural performances, technological experiences, social gatherings, and dining.

To mark its opening, over 10,000 vouchers for discounts, mystery boxes, cultural souvenirs, and dining coupons will be distributed for free. Visitors will also have the chance to immerse themselves in iconic scenes from the science fiction masterpiece The Three-Body Problem through virtual reality technology.

Potential of low-altitude economy

The 2025 Shenzhen International eVTOL Industry Development Conference and Low-Altitude Economy Exhibition will be held from Sept 23 to 25 at Yanzihu International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pingshan district.

Aiming to build a comprehensive platform for the entire eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft) industry chain, the expo will feature cutting-edge applications such as industrial-use drones, large-cargo transportation drones, avionics systems and flight control. Project tours and flight demonstrations will also be featured during the event.

Over 200 speakers, 500 exhibitors, and 15,000 professional visitors are expected to attend the event.

Entrepreneurs’ convention

The 2025 World Guangdong Entrepreneurs Convention is set to take place in Guangzhou from Sept 28 to 30, with the aim of fostering collaboration among Cantonese entrepreneurs worldwide.

The conference will feature five thematic forums and a range of sideline events. Leveraging this gathering as an opportunity, the Guangdong Federation of Industry and Commerce has mobilized chambers of commerce and Cantonese entrepreneurs from around the globe to increase investment in the province since late 2024.

Total 172 projects for 2025 and 2026 have been confirmed by private companies, with a projected investment of 138.7 billion yuan ($17.8 billion). A signing ceremony for these major projects will be held during the convention’s opening ceremony.

Taste gourmet

From Thursday to Sunday and from Sept 25 to 28, a gourmet market will be held at Macao’s Largo do Pagode do Bazar, featuring 20 diverse food and beverage stalls, pop-up performances, and scheduled food production workshops.

From 5 pm to 9 pm, foodies can not only enjoy an array of classic street snacks, including Portuguese-style bites, imitation shark fin soup, grilled squid, and more, but also have the opportunity to handcraft desserts such as pineapple cakes, mooncakes, and madeleines under guidance.

The food market is expected to create a synergistic effect with another nightlife spot, Hong Kung Night Market, attracting more visitors and enhancing the community's vibrant atmosphere.
