Kicking off on Saturday, the month-long Macao International Fireworks Display Contest has attracted firework companies from 10 countries to fight for the championship glory. Each of their shows will last for 18 minutes.
This year marks the first participation by firework companies from Brazil, South Korea, Japan, Portugal, and the United Kingdom.
They will take part in the contest along with their counterparts from China, Australia, South Africa, Austria, and the Philippines on five nights – Saturday, Sep 13 and 20, and Oct 1 and 6 – at the waterfront near Macau Tower, and each display is accompanied by music.
An online interactive game will also be launched this year. Its prizes include round-trip air tickets between Macao and the Chinese mainland.
