The Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will open its first premium city terminal within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in Shenzhen’s Qianhai area on Aug 20, catering to the needs of business travelers and frequent flyers.

Located at the Shenzhen Qianhai JEN Hotel, the terminal is currently in trial operations.

The 50-square-meter lounge, situated in the core area of the Qianhai hotel, features a comfortable and elegant VIP space and provides a range of “one-stop” services, including baggage drop-off, self-service check-in, flight information, and cross-border limousine transfers.

This move marks a key step for the HKIA in advancing high-end services and streamlining travel in the Greater Bay Area, while also underscoring Qianhai's role as a central hub in Shenzhen-Hong Kong integration.

Currently, dedicated shuttle services are available between the Qianhai terminal and the HKIA, which are run jointly by the hotel and transport firm Trans-Island Chinalink.

Industry insiders said they believe the launch of the facility will effectively improve the connection of Shenzhen-Hong Kong transport services, facilitate cross-border exchanges, enhance international connectivity in the Greater Bay Area, and contribute to the development of a world-class economic zone.
